Neil and Hannah’s engagement unfolded in one of those completely unplanned, quietly special moments.
I was tramping and staying overnight at Lake Daniell when I came across Neil proposing to Hannah at the end of the jetty. The lake was covered in morning fog, with the sun beginning to rise through it and casting a soft golden glow across the water. Everything felt still, almost suspended.
After giving them a moment to take it all in, I offered a very quick, impromptu engagement session to capture what had just unfolded - just a few minutes at the end of the jetty, nothing posed, simply documenting the moment as it was.
The fog, rising light, and quiet surroundings made it feel naturally cinematic in a way that couldn’t be planned.
Neil and Hannah were so relaxed together, and it was a privilege to quietly document the start of their engagement story in such an unexpected way.
Wishing them both so much happiness in this next chapter.
If you’re looking for natural, relaxed engagement photography anywhere in New Zealand - whether planned or a little more spontaneous - I’d love to capture it for you.
